Trend #1
Au Natural
By far, the top design trend from this market is the return of Natural. Natural wood, natural fabric, reclaimed this and vintage that. From furniture to lighting there was a huge focus on grey teak, reclaimed oak, pine, and natural alder. It hits the first day and follows through the entire market from the boutique lines like Vagabond and Zentique to entrenched players like Lexington and Hickory White.

Lighting-Where The Wild Things Are
The lighting at Market was inspired and creative. Drawing heavily on the natural and organic look were a wide range of great lighting. Rough Burlap shades from Zentique, pine and wood chandeliers from Wish Designs and branches-turned-chandelier at B&B. Also hot modern pieces such as Global Views and Fine Art Lighting.

Day Beds
Another hot item was Day Beds. Maybe for the out-of-work kids who are coming back home to live or friends who need a place to sleep for a while? Not sure why but Day Beds were very popular and of course, they were shown in reclaimed or natural wood and covered in natural fibers.

Back In Black
Black continues to be another hot color. It was usually mixed with white and was very sophisticated and polished. Of course, one can’t do black in this trend-driven market without the rustic-reclaimed look thrown in, and that was prevalent as well.

Red
Another hot trend was Red as an accent color. Red on chairs, entertainment units, pillows, accessories. Red was there! Some shiny but mostly it was distressed or aged – that ‘natural’ look again.

Fun Chairs
There was also an unusual number of cabana style chairs by Barreveld, Noir and Global Views.

British Invasion
And then there was this British thing. Lots of Union Jack flags on rustic canvas covering pillows, sofa and draperies. It is great retro fun and in small touches it can be such a great conversation piece.

Glamour Design
Glamour is still hot in the design world. Mirrored furniture, sexy Hollywood furniture, silver leafing, satiny fabrics and bling are hot. In their glamorous ‘St Tropez’ line, Lexington Furniture even offers nail head trim in Crystals to highlight a sofa or ottoman or anything else. Why have antique brass when sparkling crystal would be so 'glam'?

Go Modern
Well, Modern is not really a trend anymore, it is a staple now on the design landscape. There were lots of great pieces including double coffee tables, great geometric mirror designs and mod accessories everywhere.
