Marlborough, MA Downtown Meeting Successfully Brings Diverse Group Together to Discuss Downtown Issues

Marlborough Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) hosted a downtown Meeting on March 2 which saw important city figures including Mayor Stevens and Chief of Police Mark Leonard, downtown business owners and interested citizens gathering to discuss and tackle key downtown issues. The meeting was held at Main Street Café in Downtown Marlborough thanks to restaurant owners Randy and Mary Scott who opened the café after hours for this meeting. Their establishment has been a landmark on Main Street for over 25 year.

The Little City of Falls Church Files Trademark Applications for The Little City

The Falls Church Economic Development Authority has partnered with local intellectual property attorney Erik Pelton to obtain trademark protection for the city’s The Little City(SM) slogan and logos. “We are proud to be a part of this exciting campaign to raise the visibility of Falls Church as a strong and vibrant community,” said Mr. Pelton, who donated his legal services to file three federal trademark applications on behalf of the EDA.

Sonitrol Pacific's Early Detection Thwarts Theft

Police arrested one suspected burglar outside a Washington high school after a detection and dispatch from Sonitrol Pacific’s Operations Center February 16.

The security system in the school’s old shops and technical buildings activated at 5:33 p.m. and Operator Tara Fulmer sent the school district’s guard service to investigate. She listened to live audio on site and heard the hum of machinery.

When the guard arrived, one person ran out the shops’ front door. The suspect was detained, then taken into police custody.

One Burglar, Two Trespassers Caught by Sonitrol Pacific Audio

A Sonitrol Pacific audio security system, triggered by a suspected school burglar, led to the arrest of the burglar and two trespassers smoking pot on school grounds January 30.

Operator Minta Christopherson received the audio sensor activation from the Washington school and heard sounds of movement. She dispatched police and continued to monitor live security audio.

Officers arrived on campus and found two people drinking alcohol and smoking pot. Both were taken into custody.

They named the project, Project Unity - Save Haiti Now. The new goodwill cause purpose is to raise funding to support the relief efforts for Haiti.

Up on the Rooftop ... Sonitrol Pacific Detects Kids’ Footsteps

Police found three kids on the roof of a Washington grade school after Sonitrol Pacific’s audio sensors detected the sound of someone running December 12.

Operations Center Manager Michelle Evans received the impact-activated alarm from the school, heard “what sounded like someone running in tennis shoes,” and called police.

Police arrived at the school minutes after getting the call and located three people on the roof. All three were taken into custody.

Sonitrol Pacific Ends "Paranormal" Quest at School

After Sonitrol Pacific security detected suspicious activity, police arrested three juveniles who broke into a Washington school to act out scenes they saw in the movie “Paranormal Activity” October 27.

Operator Michael Young received audio activations from the west hallway of the school, heard glass breaking and voices, and dispatched the authorities to the scene.

Three individuals inside the school saw police arrive and tried to make a break for it out the back door. They walked out the back door and found themselves starring down the gun barrels of the police.

Trespassers with Air Soft Guns Apprehended, Cited

A Sonitrol Pacific audio detection led to the apprehension of six trespassing juveniles at a Washington school October 11.

Sonitrol Pacific Operator Tara Fulmer received a system activation from the school’s audio security sensors in the area of the girls’ locker rooms just after 10:00 p.m. and called the district’s guard service.

Officers located six kids on campus carrying air soft guns. The six didn’t get inside the school and were cited for trespassing.

Hedge Fund Jobs Bounce Back after Woeful Summer

After declining for most of 2009, there was a major spike in new hedge fund jobs in September, according to a research report released today by HedgeFundJobList.com. The six month decline in new hedge fund jobs hit a record low in August before bouncing back 104% in September to the highest level since April. The report predicts that greater financial market stability, among other factors, will lead to better conditions for hedge fund job seekers throughout 2009 and into 2010.
